Hi I am Joseph Gavin, I am a core member of river 1 team southern region, and we are on disaster working on building homes in Baton Rouge LA working with habitat humanity and many other communities, we have worked with many communities so far both disaster, and rounds, It’s been great helping many affected communities and people in many diversities’. Over all we worked for Round1, Rock castle county development board, The America corps disaster response team, Red cross, and Aumcor, Round2: Raleigh North Carolina, parks recreation and culture resources, and Nechama Jewish response to disaster, and recovery.

I am an AmeriCorps worker for SAFE Haven of Racine Inc. We service youth ages 10-17 yrs old. We provide food, clothing and shelter to youth for up to 2 weeks. In that time we flood the family with resources and referrals with an ultimate goal of family reunification, when in the best interest of the youth.

I'm an AmeriCorps VISTA member, serving at the YWCA this year. Through both of these organizations, I work to eliminate racism, empower women, and fight poverty through programs that help women obtain gainful employment as well as recover from domestic violence. Brothers of Alpha Phi Omega from the Alpha Alpha chapter volunteered at University Place Christian Church to cook a thanksgiving meal for the homeless community and other members of the community.
